I have had an ENT related Web site since 1994. However, since 1998, I have been operating Kids-ENT.com as an interactive public service site. Since then, I have had over three thousand interchanges through email with patients, parents and other caregivers. I changed the appearance of the site in 2000, but left the overall architecture unchanged. Most recently (in 2005) I overhauled the entire site, updating the content and replacing a number of outdated and primative design and navigation elements that had been in place since the site was launched seven years previously. I am careful to explain that this is not a substitute for a formal doctor-patient relationship, and that I cannot actually diagnose or treat a child over the Internet. Nevertheless, this correspondence seems to have been quite helpful to many familes around the world. Sometimes, something as simple as an explanation of a basic disease process or a referral to a local specialist is useful.
